Earlier this month I worked on my second episode for the Hawaii Life TV show on HGTV.
The buyers were a young couple and they had a really good time filming the scenes, and so did I. The first time around 3 years ago I was very nervous, but this time I was more relaxed. We did the usual tour of 3 or 4 Maui homes for sale, and got to meet up in some scenic spots to talk about features and decisions. They're really going to look good on camera and I hope you'll watch the new season this fall.
Setting up for an interview scene in Kihei Maui
I can't reveal much about the episode, but if you follow my blog you might recognize some of the locations where we get together. The listings are real and when we tour them, it's just like when they see them for the first time. The film crew people were very professional and helpful, while shooting 3 episodes back to back right here on Maui.
Why do I do this? It's not hard work, but it is very time consuming for the better part of a week. I guess it's just fun to try something different. You can read about what's involved with putting an episode together on my Hawaii Life blog.
One of the homes didn't make the cut due to complications that arose at the time of filming. So I guess I can show you this house in Paia that is no longer on the market. It was very cute and showed well but... seller decided to keep it for visiting family to use. You know, when you live on Maui you'll have lots of visitors so an extra house comes in very handy!
We got lucky with the weather every day and everything went well. You never know what can happen in the short time that's scheduled, and the few small bumps were easily overcome. If you ever get a chance to do one of these "house hunter" shows, give it a shot!
