The Pines at Koele - Island of Lana'i, Hawaii

  Lana'i Island, Maui County

On our recent trip to the island of Lana'i, I was able to see some properties for sale, and get an overview of the real estate market there.  Basically, there are some really great homes and condos, but they are not cheap, compared to the Maui market.  Most of the listings on Lanai are brand new developments, and they are from one developer.  The impression they would like to create is that homeownership on Lana'i is for the privileged few.  If you can afford one of their exclusive residences, you will be able to enjoy all the amenities including championship golf, spa treatments and world-class dining.

There are really only 2 communities on Lana'i, Lana'i City and Manele. Both locations boast a Four Seasons Hotel and an award winning golf course. They are about a 20 minute drive apart, and the resort runs a private bus service back and forth.  Manele is the oceanfront community with condos and residential condos for sale.

Lana'i City is located at a higher altitude, with a nice cool climate.  Lana'i City used to be the Dole plantation town,  and it's the town where the locals live.  The Lodge at Koele is the name of the resort which resembles a grand English estate nestled amongst tall pines.  Lawn bowling, croquet and skeet shooting are some of the activities offered at the hotel. The nearby Experience at Koele championship golf course was designed by golf legend Greg Norman.  The Lodge at Koele has been ranked the number 1 golf resort in the world, by Conde Nast Traveler.  Here, along the second fairway, you will find The Pines at Koele, 2,3 or 4 bedroom residences that are detached condominiums.  The upscale Pines community offer spacious living and luxury, in an ideal tropical environment.  The architectural design and flavor reflect the standard originally set by the newly rebranded Four Seasons Resort. Some are single story, and the larger ones are 2 stories.  Living area is about 1,600-2,100 sf.  Standard features are impressive, and include: covered entry; granite countertops; Sub-Zero/Wolf appliances; central air conditioning; hardwood and natural stone flooring; indoor/outdoor gas fireplace; Hardiplank siding; single garage and a carport.  As they are condos, all the yard maintenance is left to the management company, so these homes lend themselves well to part time occupancy.  During my visit, 5 of the 20 pre-construction units were on the market, ranging in price from $1,150,000 to $1,559,250.  Owners of these luxury homes on Lana'i will have the option of applying for membership to the Island Club.  As a member in this private recreation and social club, you will have access to amenities at both of the Four Seasons Resort Lana'i hotels.  If you're a golfer, you will certainly appreciate all this membership has to offer, and will enjoy special golf course privileges.

If you have any questions about properties on Lana'i, please contact me for more details.  I have a nice CD which I can mail you upon request.
