The Diamond Hawaii Resort & Spa in Wailea has been rebranded as the Hotel Wailea Maui, as of June 15, 2009. The owners are hoping to reposition the resort as a luxury boutique property, with only 72 competitively priced ocean-view suites.
The quiet location away from the busy oceanfront area of Wailea ensures a relaxing experience. Guests will still enjoy access to world-class golf, shopping, and fine dining. Upon arrival you will be greeted by a smiling bellman who offers you cold water and a refreshing wet hand towel.

One of the highlights of the resort is their 5-star Italian restaurant - Capische, where you can dine in an ocean view terrace and garden (al fresco) setting. Rub elbows with celebrities here!
Or, if you're looking for a very personal dining experience, try Il at Capische, where you'll be pampered by your own personal chef in a private room with a special menu and wine pairing. Il Teatro dining is like nothing else on Maui.

At the Hotel Wailea Maui there are 4 suites situated in each of 18 buildings nestled among lush tropical foliage. Rooms will be priced at about $250/night.

Georgina-That looks so cool and inviting. Totally opposite of what we have here in South Texas-over 40 days without rain, and many days of over 100 degrees. A nice tropical breeze would be nice. Enjoy paradise.
Georgina, great photos, once again, I wish that I was there! I was just chatting with an old friend who recently returned from Oahu, and it really got me wishing that I was there in your beautiful Islands!
Georgina, This place looks and sounds just beautiful! I'm surprised the prices for rooms are so low! I've been looking in Boston and can't find much that's well located for anything less then that!
Georgina, someday I must get to Maui. O'ahu has a special place in my heart but Maui looks so inviting as seen through your lens.
Georgina, every time I read your posts I get homesick. Have you eaten at the Capische?
Wayne - I'll trade you some of this rain for some sunshine!
C-Team I think you should plan a trip to Hawaii this winter!
Carole - I know, that's a good price for here too.
Maria - if you haven't been to Maui yet, you owe it to yourself.
Leolina - no, it's so far away, like 45 minutes. When we go out it's usually much closer to home... Mama's or Paia Fish Market or Charley's.
I love that waterfall. It makes mine look, well, like a storm drainage ditch:
That's the San Diego River -- yes, river! - not too far from San Diego State University, about 15 miles inland.
