Yes we do have cactus on Maui, it's not all tropical flowers here!

Believe it or not, there are some very arid regions on Maui, where cactus and succulents thrive.  Take a look at these stunning specimens which are mostly from Kula Maui, on the slopes on Haleakala.

You know, Maui has some very diverse micro-climates, which include tropical jungles, sunny beaches, pine forests, and lush pastures.  What kind of climate are you looking for?  What kind of plants to you want to grow in your yard?

You'll these kind of plants when you drive around upcountry, and on the drier side of the island.

Derek - would you believe they do make a vodka from pineapples!  Now a Maui tequila would be interesting, and probably very very expensive.

Georgina, Are those little Roses called "Hen and Chicks" or are they something else?  They look like a plant my grandmother used to grow.
