Maui Blog - Georgina M. Hunter R(S): Photo Fridays - Jade vines in Haiku Maui Hawaii

Photo Fridays - Jade vines in Haiku Maui Hawaii

Jade Vines growing in Haiku Maui - these are some of the most incredible flowers I have seen... the color is so unusual, and they grow in such a profusion of hanging clusters that it's very powerful.  These vines are just beginning to come on.  You might have seen these flowers crafted into a very unique lei, or garland for the neck.  There is no scent to speak of.

I like the color.  It's so different from anything we have here in Naples.

Hi Georgina.  It does look perfect for a lei but I don't think I've seen them anywhere.  Do you have them in your yard?

I'll see you on next week's caravan.

I wish I had these growing, and should probably put that on my to-do list.  They need a place where they can hang down, like a trellis.  Perhaps that's why I haven't started any yet.

Richard - yes, I'll see you in Kula!

Georgina you and your pictures depict the beauty of Hawaii.  I got too busy on the Big Island and couldn't make it over to meet you.  Hope to make it to Maui in June.

We had a jade vine growing at the home we lived in from 1999-2001. We had two acres, and my marketing guru created a native plant garden, a fern garden, a cactus garden, and a tropical garden on the property. If Enron had not been manipulating the energy markets in California, we would still live there, but our June 2000 gas/electric bill was $4,700, and we didn't know what Enron was doing and that once their greed was exposed, utility bills would come back down to something reasonable.
