Totally cool Georgina!  I love Pineapples.  Can't say that I have ever had one so close to being picked off the tree.

Most of the local supermarkets have pineapples from Chile, Mexico or South America.  Hawaiian grown pineapples are the real thing, they are like gold!

I almost had a slice of pineapple on my chicken sandwich tonight.  I must have been reading your thoughts.

I was in Maui last year, and it was so sad because the locals said that pineapple production will end this year.

It's all going to Guam now.

But I've also heard there is a grass roots movement to keep in on the island.

Not sure what the latest is.

Hello Georgina and we have been eating quite a bit of pineapple in Thailand and if Hawaii looks anything like parts of Thailand I can't wait to visit! This is Vegas Bob & Nu Nu commenting to you from Thailand!

If we lived there my son would make himself sick eating the pineapples.  They look wonderful.

There are two things from Hawaii that I've tried and the first was a fresh cut pineapple and there is nothing like that. The other was when I was 12, I was given pure sugar cane. I must have took a week to finish that, but boy did I love that thing.

Nothing better than a fresh pineapple!  You are fortunate to have them at your fingertips every day!

My favorite, I thought they had gone out of business. We, in Seattle, are now getting pineapples from South America, ick...

The Haliimaile Pineapple Company was recently formed and they bought up a lot of the equipment and the trademark, leased a bunch of land from Maui Land and Pine.  So the pineapples will still be grown here for local consumption at least.  You just have to come over here to get one now!

Thanks everyone for the comments - I'll be visiting your blogs to return the favor.

Pineapples are quite possibly my favorite fruit.  They are SOOOO delicious.  I think you just might be responsible for my next trip to the grocery store.

Georgina,

Great looking pineapples. They are so large. We have a couple more growing right now. :)

Georgina,

Fresh pineapples taste great. Not crazy on pizza though.
