Spring flowers in Haiku Maui Hawaii

Haiku Maui Hawaii flowers - gardenia

Haiku Maui Hawaii flowers - gardenia

The gardenias are in bloom, so you know it's springtime in Hawaii.  I always look forward to the beautiful rich scent of gardenias because it reminds me of when we first moved here in April 1980.  The gardenias were everywhere upcountry!  Since then we have planted many of our own.  They are pretty easy to start from cuttings.

This second flower I just encountered for the first time and I have no idea what it is.  Do you?

Beautiful pictures. No idea what the second flower is... if it's not a sunflower or a dandylion I'm likely not going to know!

WOW that picture is so clear that I could almost smell that gardenia here in Vegas!!  We are attempting (note I said attempting) to make our backyard "tropical" at the moment ;)

Georgina, I haven't seen such a beautiful gardenia in a long time.  This was one of my mom's favorite flowers and we often had them in the house.  This brings back lots of memories, thanks.

Georgina - Gardenias are one of my favorite flowers - when I grew up my mother had them in planters all along the front of the house - it was a beautiful sight!

Hi Georgina.  Aren't we lucky to live in paradise where flowers are in bloom all year long!
