Saigon Cafe at night - Wailuku Maui HI dining

If you love good Vietnamese food in a friendly atmosphere, then you must try the Saigon Cafe in Wailuku Maui.  This restaurant has been a favorite of ours ever since some friends turned us on to it many years ago.  It's nothing fancy, and the location is a little tucked away, but it's sure worth finding this hidden treasure.

The menu is extensive with plenty to please every diner, including vegetarians.  Curries and noodles, hot soups, spring rolls, seafood, meats and chicken.  So many choices and not enough room for it all!  Come hungry or go home with a doggie bag because servings are large and filling.  The wait staff are very engaging and fun, and you'll enjoy hanging out here no matter what.

We went on Friday night, which is also when you can take in the events at Wailuku First Fridays if you time it right.

It is at 1792 Lower Main Street in Wailuku. Phone 808-243-9560.

Okay, Georgina, confession time here.  I have never been to a Vietamese restaurant nor have I ever tasted any of their food, which I hear really is wonderful. You've inspired me to do a recipe search.  Since I love to cook and try new recipes, this will be fun.  I'll let you know.

Juli - it's a lot like Thai food - plenty of vegetables and fresh ingredients.  I hope you find some good recipes.
