Report from the ML&P auction on Maui with video

It was a week ago we went to the Maui Land and Pineapple Co. preview for their big auction.  We spent 5 hours at the auction the next day and all we got was this flagpole!

flagpole in Kapalua Maui HI

It was a fun event and well attended too, with hundreds of people on site and hundreds more online.  The bidding was pretty fast and furious, especially when Surfer Joe the Auctioneer took the podium (which was also for sale by the way).

Here's a little sample of the action at the ML&P auction on Maui.  I won't bore you with all the details, but let's just say there weren't a lot of super deals while we were there.  Maybe as the day wore on the prices came down.  I think Maui should have more of these events just for the fun of it!

Looks like the auction was pretty intense.  I haven't really participated in an auction of this type... I'll have to check one out.

Thanks for the quick comment Joan!  I bet you have some good auctions in your area, with lots of antiques!

What fun - Georgina - I LOVE going to auctions just to see the action.

We have been to a few auctions; those auctioneers can sure get it going. Don't raise your hand or make a gesture my mistake you may just buy something you didn't intend to buy. When our kids were in 4-H and AG at the end of the rodeo shows they would auction off the steers, hogs, lambs whatever they raised.

Juli - me too!  We hardly ever get them here though.

Carl & Ceil - I know!  I was even a little uneasy holding up the camera to take video. haha

Georgina, I've attended a couple of auctions in my lifetime, they are FUN!  What were they auctioning off?

Kate - flagpole update... we got the windmill up and running yesterday!

Pamela - in general it was a lot of farming and golf course equipment, tools, etc.  On the video I believe it was a portable office trailer.

thanks for your comments!
