Maui Skies - the long road home - Wailea to Haiku

Driving home from Wailea Maui to Haiku Maui takes you by these dramatic skies over Puunene Sugar Mill. An incoming plane load of tourists will soon be enjoying all the wonders of our island home.

It's not a storm brewing, just the late afternoon clouds piling up against the side of Haleakala mountain. A quick short cut across Hansen Rd. saves having to run the gauntlet of traffic lights on Dairy Rd. in Kahului.

Hi Georgina~
As I opened your blog tonight, I was struck with the drama you caught in your photo...the plane and the rising vapors somehow collided in my imagination...and I was transported to Hawaii...!...
Amazing photos. My first thought was thunderstorm. Did you take this with your camera or I-phone?
janeAnne - thanks for letting your mind go and feeling the island breezes!
Carl and Ceil - Yes my good old trusty iPhone and the SuperCamera app!
Georgina - I used to love the afternoon rains in Maui - it was a great reminder to take a few minutes to rest after all the time spent exploring your great island and basking in the sun. I wonder why we didn't keep the European afternoon siesta as part of the "American" way - we borrowed so much, LOL.
Georgina, Those are dramatic and beautiful photos! Very nice! We loved the week that we spent on Maui, and need to sell several houses so that we can get back!
As usual wonderful pictures of paradise Georgina...I wish the family and me were on that inbound flight!
I miss you photos, I miss your island and I miss home:) I have been busy, so busy, that I miss your blog:) But you are always in my thoughts and so is my Hawaii and Ohana.
Georgina
Great photos. They seem like Nature's Fury in your island paradise.
