Finding Maui's best deals on meals - Jack's Inn, Kahului Maui HI

Remember when you could go out for a hamburger and it didn't cost 10 or 15 bucks?

It's getting harder and harder to find just a plain old hamburger, one that you don't need a fork lift to pick it up with.  Most tourists will never stumble onto the kind of places that locals frequent, so let me help you find some hidden Maui treasures...

JACK'S INN

  • 312 Alamaha St, Kahului Maui HI 96732, 808 877-3610
  • Mon-Sat  5:00 am - 2:00 pm
  • Breakfast and Lunch served
  • local grindz
Jack's Inn has been around for a while, and you can tell from the faded decor.  Going to Jack's is like a trip back in time, before McDonalds and Burger King and other fast food joints ruled the planet.  You can get a great hamburger deluxe for $4.00, and they make french fries 3 different ways!  If you're in the mood for some oxtail soup, where are you going to go?  Want a side of SPAM with that?  No problem.  You can find all kinds of local favorites here, including: saimin; wontons; Loko Moko; fried rice; POG; kim chee; and teriaki.

Jack's Inn burgers and sandwiches

The food and service is old fashioned and down home, with a casual family atmosphere, right in the heart of Kahului.  Don't get all dressed up for a lunch date at Jack's, but bring your smile and they'll treat you right.

With all the money you save, you might be able to afford a condo or home on Maui, so give me a call and we'll go shopping together...

Hi Georgina!  Have I mentioned I think you have a beautiful name?  I love the $4 buck lunch!  We have a lot of moderate restaurants in San Antonio but they tend to be abougt $10 for lunch plus tax & drink $12.  I have this friend who shares with me and I him, the $5 lunch deals.  When we find a new restaurant that offers a $5 lunch we text each other.  It sure help to save a few bucks!  Mahalo.

Hi Georgina,

Looks like the kind of place that I like to visit when I am on vacation. Not overly expensive

I am certainly going to have to check back in since it seems ActiveRain has decided that this is not a good day to show photos!  :-(

C Lloyd - keep an eye out for this place when you come over.

Barb - that's the 2nd time I heard that pictures aren't working, but I haven't had any experience like that yet today.

Leilani - what's a POG?  Never heard of that and couldn't find it on the menu.  But, those prices sure do look great and the food's good on top of great prices - one place on my list of places to visit if I ever get back to Maui, for sure!!!!

Juli - lol I wondered about that too when we first got here. POG stands for Passion Orange Guava, and it's a fruit juice blend.  They'll give it to you on the inter island flights!
