Maui's Upcountry Water Meter Wait List

Having a water meter on Maui is very important, especially if your property is in a dry region such as Kula.  If you own vacant land you can get your name on a waiting list for a water meter.  If you own a residential property that qualifies for more than one dwelling, you can also put your name on the priority list for a 2nd water meter.

Here's a link to the newly published waiting list supplied by the County of Maui Department of Water Supply Engineering Division... Upcountry Maui Water Meter List

The names on the list start in 1996!  There are 27 pages on the list.  What does this mean?  If you're not in the top 200-300 you might be waiting a very long time for your water meter.  This is something to consider when buying vacant land on Maui.  Let me know if you have questions about water meters, other sources of water, and buying land on Maui.  There are workarounds.

WOW - Now that is something I would have NEVER thought about! It is SO important to work with a Realtor that knows the area WELL! Fantastic local information Georgina!

I guess that is one way to curb building homes on the island. Is that what they are worried about or is it just a matter of time and manpower?
