Georgina,
Great shots. I didn't realize that there were trail rides. :)
Steve
Hi Georgina,
How interesting, this something I'd love to do myself. I've done the bike ride down the crater on 2 different trips, but didn't realize they had the horseback ride.
Georgina,
Yes, it looks like I would imagine the moon. Just how different are places on our earth. Never boring
Hi Georgina - That area looks spookily beautiful. I can see why the bandannas are covering the nose and mouth; that ashy dust looks like it would not be fun to breathe. Spectacular ride though.
What a lovely landscape. I remember going up early one morning to watch the sunrise, but never went near the craters.
Georgina: These are really awesome photos of the Haleakala Crater Trail Rides in Haiku, something everyone visiting your area should try!
I'm putting that on my "Must-do" list for next year when I visit!
This is beautiful! I have biked down this but didn't realize that you ride down these trails on horseback! Ok...another to add to the bucket list!
Looks like the dusty but remarkably beautiful trail. What fun.
My husband and I drove across a place in the Big Island...that was scary and beautiful. No other car on this road and looked like we were on the moon. THe road went accross the Island. I was glad to see the end as I kept thinking what if we broke down :)
I'm glad to see you all liked the pictures from atop Haleakala. It's worthy of your time when you're on Maui. Thanks for all the comments.
One of our favorite spots to hike, but the horse rides are cool too.
I remember watching the sunrise at Haleakala. It was one of the most beautiful sunrises I've ever experienced.
Beautiful shots but I am a scary Nellie... I would not ride up there.
It is absolutely worthy of visiting Georgina. I was just talking to a friend the other evening and the topic came up that a crater trip would be an excellent way to begin a vacation in Maui.
Monday is my Happiness Day.
I visit as many blog posts as I can during the day
and spread happiness, which means I probably didn’t read this post.
I just stopped by to spread some happiness.

Georgina,
Congratulations. Your post is now featured in "Silent Saturday." :)

Georgina, I would never have thought of horseback riding in Maui. Thanks for bringing us more great things to do in Maui.
I found it interesting the leader was wearing a scarf against the dust but no helmet while all the riders had helmets but no scarves.
That looks like it would be an interesting trip but how do the horses feel about being down in that crater? Looks like it is REALLY dusty and not a good place for allergy sufferers.
Hi Georgina,
I think this looks like a great side trip to take. How long does it take to get there? I love the pictures and it makes you think you are in a western movie. Happy Fall.
