SAVE Makena Beach Party - South Maui

maui's big beach at makena

If you want to participate to SAVE Makena Beach from development, there will be a PARTY this Saturday November 3, 2007.  Please inquire about information on issues involving Maui County, just go to their SAVE MAKENA website or call them for information at 808 357-3134

This Save Makena event will be presented by Innavision & Friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Oneloa Beach at Makena State Park.  Bring your beach chairs, the cooler and join the fun.  Try to carpool if you can as you the parking is limited.

Many would say that Makena Beach is the BEST BEACHon Maui, and I will agree with that.  The terrain here is made of jumbled a'a lava rock, sand, and dirt, with plenty of coconut palms and keave trees growing where they can.  Rainfall is low, probably less than 5 inches per year.  Due to the excellent sunny weather, this is prime resort development area.  Sadly though, it also a very historically important Hawaiian area with many sites being lost every year.  If you're a concerned citizen, please attend and show your support.

  • also potluck, bring something yummy
  • Gail Swanson and Lawa will perform

I've been to Maui before but don't recall Makena Beach.  The beach looks amazing in the photo and should surely stay that way.  Good luck!

Ken - Makena is on the south shore, below Kihei and Wailea, on the way to La Perouse State Park.... where it's just jumbled black lava rocks.  Beautiful golden sand that stretches for about a mile.  No hotels in sight!  It's really a magical place, and I'm sure most people would want to keep it that way.
