Maui Blog - Georgina M. Hunter R(S): NEW - the unsubscribe button - have you tried it yet?

NEW - the unsubscribe button - have you tried it yet?

stop sign

I just noticed the new option at the end of the new comment alerts.  When did that start showing up?

--- Unsubscribe from notifications for this post

This is useful for those times when you get swamped with way too many emails, which often happens when you comment on a great post by some of the blogging overachievers here like.....

I haven't yet tried it, but I will because I'm the curious type.  I think this is a great new feature

UPDATE - I don't know about you all, but it seems to take 3 tries before it works.

Thanks again ActiveRain, you guys rock!  Thanks to Imagechef.com for the cute picture.

Comments

Thanks for sharing.  I haven't noticed the unsubscribe button.  Guess I have been to busy bloging and commenting.  Happy Holidays!

It has been there for awhile. It is there if you have suscribed to a persons post and want to unsubscribe.  Hope this helps!  8-)

There has always been a Subscribe / Unsubscribe button just over the posters picture for the blog - at least it's been there as long as I've been a member.  I have yet to see the Unsubscribe from notifications.  Is this so you can stop getting notified everytime someone else comments after you've checked the "Notify me of new comments:: box?

I saw it just the other day...maybe it was there before, but I remember we had to go back into the post and uncheck the notify me box.....this is so much easier, and saves time too :) :)  Thanks....

It works, but you have to be logged in if it's members only.

this is a good thing - as Martha says

I'm not seeing where it is. I must be missing it. If I get tired of the comments, I always go back in and update my comment to uncheck the box. Just clicking a link would be a lot faster. Ok - I'm going to save this comment and see if I see it.

Angie - you'd be better off testing it with a more active thread.  lol

I don't expect a lot of action over here.  I'm still testing it out myself, and I like it.

- you just gave me the email to test it out in. I had never noticed that link before either. Thanks for the tip. I will definitely use that.

On second thought, it appears to not be working that well.  I have "unsubscribed" from one post 3 times now and they still come....?

Anyone else have some input?

I've just set up a separate folder in my e-mail account that captures all my Activerain New Comment e-mails. I get all the updates I want, but avoid the full inbox problem that you describe. It is pretty easy to set up depending on your e-mail service, but most have this feature and can be done in less than 5 minutes.

Todd,  that might be a better idea!  Thanks.  It seems that the unsubscribe button is not that effective.

you can say that agin, Georgina.  I've clicked on the "Unsubscribe from notifications for this post " for this post several times and am still getting updates!
Posted by Roswell Georgia Real Estate Agent - Nancy Brenner (Referral Associates of Georgia, Inc.) over 4 years ago
Nancy - lol - I think the "button" needs some work - I find I have to click it more than once on some occasions.  At least there's not 100 comments here, so it's not too painful.  haha

HAHA - I've clicked on the "--- Unsubscribe from notifications for this post " for this post and now several others more than a couple of times.   I'm still getting updates!!!!!  Go figure.  Maybe we need to address this to the powers that be????  OK - i'm foing to flag this post to get their attention.

Crap.  That last comment was from me.  I forgot to log in.  OY!  And I can't even go back and fix my typos!!!!

Nancy, if you have any pull with the gods, please let them know.  I thought I'd give it a few more days and see what happens.  It seems to work some of the time.
