If you own livestock on Maui, you probably already know where Del's Farm Supply is located, on the corner of Alamaha and Hanamau, in Kahului. With the new expanded warehouse space they have a much bigger selection than they had at the old Maui Shopping Center. Of course, that store burned down, which was a major inconvenience. You can find all the usual feeds for your critters, like chicken scratch, egg maker, pig starter, hog finisher, alfalfa cubes, sweet horse feed and rolled oats. Fenceposts, fencing wire, salt blocks, rubber boots, tubs and troughs, ropes and pails, meds and grooming aids, it's all right here under one roof. These guys have been serving Maui farmers and ranchers for decades, and doing a great job.

A bag of 2-way chicken scratch cost me $13. These hay bales they were selling today cost $27. each. I guess this means if you own a few horses, you'd better have a big pasture! No wonder hayburners are so expensive over here. Well there are still plenty of horses and cowboys in upcountry Maui, so it must be worth it.

Oh yes, Del's... I had chickens and ducks for years and would love to go to Dels to get feed and visit the chicks and rabbits etc... I only dream of owning a horse... Someday
In response to your blog on Canadian buyers, who are you using for a lender? A friend and I are closing on a deal tomorrow with Canadian buyers and it was an extremely difficult loan (even though they put 40% down) I'd love to know if you have a lender who is not treating our Canadian friends like they are felons :)
I hope you have recovered from the flu,
Karen
Hi Karen,
I see you still keep the same late hours! yes I'm feeling a whole lot better. Currently I use Gary Rosenberg at International Mortgage in Paia ... 579-9399. He's right upstairs from us and we work together a lot. He says he can do it! He also says 25% is fine even for a condotel. We shall see.
You haven't been blogging much lately?
