Kula Country Farms offers their Pumpkin Patch and other fun activities this month
October is the busiest month for Kula Country Farms, and it's no wonder when you see how much work they put into their displays. The Pumpkin Patch is the big draw, with beautiful pumpkins and gourds stacked high on the wagon, and some still on the vines. Kids can also visit a spooky Cowboy Graveyard, see the miniature horses and other farm animals, and wander through the corn maze.

Parents will have a hard time taking their kids home when they're having so much fun, but there's activities for adults too...vegetables and fruit and plants for sale, and a food truck. It's really nice to see families enjoying the farm and learning about agriculture, in the cool climate of upcountry Maui.

Small farms on Maui need our support and Kula Country Farms know how to engage the public to make it fun as well as profitable. Kids need to know where our food comes from, and to respect the land so that future generations will also enjoy the benefits that small farms bring. Please encourage your family to shop at farmers markets and buy directly from the farms whenever possible.

It was a real pleasure to stop by and get these pictures of the abundance of nature, and the creative displays of a colorful harvest. I'll be sure to stop by again and bring home some fresh produce from Kula Maui. You'll find the farm stand on the Kula Highway, just past the 13 mile marker, near Rice Park. Even if you don't need to buy anything, the views alone are worth the stop.
