A lot of changes have come about on the west side of Maui, and when you look at this Youtube video of old footage you'll be amazed to see what a difference 50 years makes in Kaanapali.

Kaanapali Beach was a real beauty back in the days before high rises and shopping centers.  It's still an awesome beach today and you can see why so many are attracted to this stretch of white sand on a little Pacific island.  What an exciting experience it must have been back then to come and visit West Maui before all the development and highways.  A real adventure.

I hear ya. But it still looks good to me - someone that would love to have a vacation and have it be in Hawaii.

I think in almost every paradise people look at the old days and are a bit wistful about them.  When I was married on the beautiful island of Marthas Vineyard 25 years ago we loved the less congested nature of the island. With so many recent Presidents of the US making it their vacation spot the island changed.  It is very hard to keep a paradise from being desired by others.

The times they are a changin'....wonder what it will look like 50 years from now??? All I can say is that I wish I was there with the family this week!

Thank you for taking the time to watch the video, or some of it.  It was quite fascinating and hard to stop.  Thanks also for your comments!
