Big waves pound the north shore of Maui marking the start of winter
This week we have seen some really big winter swells hitting the north shore of Maui.
- Yesterday the 35' surf got everyone excited to head out to JAWS in Peahi, Haiku. The Hana Highway and Hahana Rd intersection was like a parking lot as people carpooled or walked down to the cliff side to see the big wave surfers.
- Baldwin Beach Park remains closed today after the waves came up and flooded the parking lot and pavillion.
- Homes along the north shore in Kuau experienced extra high surf around 11:00 am as waves surged up much too close for comfort. Is an oceanfront home really worth it?
