Had a great lunch at Dazoo restaurant, in Paia Maui HI 96779
What was formerly the Moana Bakery and Cafe has now become Dazoo Restaurant, and the menu has changed along with the decor. They claim to be all about unpretentious fine dining. There's a Korean flavor to a lot of the dishes because one of the owners has a Korean background. Local ingredients are used extensively.
Dazoo is at 71 Baldwin Ave. just about a block up from the Hana Highway, in the Paia Plaza building. Call them for reservations at 808 579-9999. (what a great number - so easy to remember)
I got to try their famous Bibimbap, served in a hot stone bowl, and brimming with lots of good veggies and rice, some kimchee and tofu, and an egg on top. Delicious and different! My hubby had a ranch burger, made from locally grown beef, with home fries. They make their own buns, which he said was very good.
We will have to go back to try their dinner menu one evening, as it's quite different. They encourage family style dining, with everyone sharing the flavors from each dish.
Oh yes, they do their own baking and make some pretty tasty desserts too. Plans are in the works for an extra bakery next door to keep up with the demand for baguettes and other goodies. Be sure to stop in and treat yourself to a yummy lunch or dinner in Paia Maui.
Breakfast and lunch daily from 8 am - 2 pm. Dinner served Tuesday thru Saturday from 5-9 pm.
