Maui Blog - Georgie Hunter R(S): We wrapped on the filming of my Hawaii Life TV show episode!

We wrapped on the filming of my Hawaii Life TV show episode!

We wrapped on the filming of my Hawaii Life TV show episode!

Last week was a busy week for me and my clients, with the filming of an episode for the HAWAII LIFE TV show.  For those of you who don't know, HGTV has a house hunter show called HAWAII LIFE, and that's also the name of the real estate brokerage where I work.  Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers has had a lot of success with the show, and I find many people who absolutely love it and "watch it all the time!".

The production team was really great and things went as planned.  They know exactly what they're doing, and coordinated everything down to the last detail.  It was a pretty small crew of 7 people, with just 2 on camera and 1 on sound.  I'm glad they knew what they were doing, so we could try to relax and act natural.

My job was to find the properties to feature.  C'mon, that's the easy part for us in this business, right?  Well it's not so easy when you have a timeline to meet, and releases to sign.  But it all worked out just fine.  We had a nice mix of Maui homes for sale and no tenants had to be inconvenienced.  I really have to thank the homeowners for participating!

The buyers are friends and previous clients of mine, so that took a lot of pressure off.  We were able to joke a lot and have fun, without too many nervous moments.  They really did all the heavy lifting and they're the stars of the show!  They put in some long days, and I know it was stressful, but we're all going to have some good stories to talk about for a while.

Let's not forget about the locations.  Not only did we have to secure some nice Maui north shore homes to feature, we also had to get permission to film at other locales for the scenes where we meet and talk. This is harder than you would think!  So many scenic choices here on Maui.  Some favorite spots were used and you'll get to see plenty of beautiful locations on Maui when you tune in.

This episode has wrapped, and another one is being filmed right now, with another Hawaii Life agent.  Be sure to tune in to HGTV in the fall when the new season of HAWAII LIFE begins.  I'll be back to tell you when my episode airs!

THIS is Hawaii Life!!

Georgie, unless you have been in the business (which I have), you don't realize that it's not all glamour and makeup! It's a lot of behind-the-scenes work and I can appreciate what you did as well as your clients to make this happen.

How exciting that you made it on PrimeTime! Please make sure to give us a heads up when it is finally on HGTV.

This is a lot of comments!  I appreciate it.  Glad to see there are so many fans of the show. It was an easy process to get selected... just submitted some buyers and see who gets picked. I think these buyers were chosen because they have a great story.. local boy, local girl, finding a home in his home town. Nice to see it stay local!

Georgie, this is the kind of stuff dreams are made of! At least for those who don't know what the reality of shooting a show is all about. Good for you for doing the behind-the-scenes "stuff" to make it easy for the production team, because let's face it, a lot of that fell into your hands and it sounds like you made it look easy.

Having been in this field (television/film) for many years, I know how hard it can be--the part that most don't see--

PLEASE let us know when it airs--I would be delighted to watch!

Thanks for all your positive feedback. The show aired in October, on the second Sunday of the new season. The blurb said something like this, if you try to find it: native couple want to move back closer to the beach on Maui's north shore.

I only watched it once. Interesting to see how much stuff gets cut out. The best stuff that happened will never make the show.
