The Twin Falls trails and fruit stand, on the road to Hana Maui, is becoming very popular with visitors and residents. Just past the 2 mile marker, on the right, is where this farm stand is. This little tourist attraction keeps on expanding the parking area along the highway to accomodate all the traffic, but it's still inadequate. Please keep in mind that the road through here is the main highway, and it's not a parking lot. If you're trying to park, you may have to drive by and turn around where it's convenient, instead of just stopping in the middle of the road while you wait for a spot!
You can walk up to to some pools and waterfalls on a pretty easy trail. Wear some good shoes, and bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. There's beautiful tropical plants and so much nature to appreciate along the way. It's good for groups, and it can get crowded on a sunny afternoon. You might be able to pick some wild guavas growing on the bushes in the summertime.
After your hike, you're encouraged to buy a snack or cold drink at the farm stand by the highway. They'll blend up a smoothie made from locally grown fruits, and answer questions about the area while you wait. Try the coconut candy or banana bread to take home.
Not only is it dangerous to park here, but the pools and streams can also be a danger. Pay attention to the warning signs because it's legitimate... people do get hurt here and some have died by not being sensible about jumping into the water. Flash floods can occur even on a sunny day.
Be safe and enjoy your adventure on Maui's north shore.
