Maui Blog - Georgie Hunter R(S): Buying an electric vehicle in Hawaii just got easier

Buying an electric vehicle in Hawaii just got easier

Buying an electric vehicle in Hawaii just got easier thanks to a handy tool to help you calculate whether or not it's worth it.  You can choose a model of car and see how it compares to your current vehicle.

By using your current electricity bill, and current gas prices, the WattPlan for electric vehicles will determine whether or not you'll save money.  Some neighborhoods in Hawaii will be able to purchase power on a tiered system with daytime being cheaper due to input from rooftop solar.  That could make a world of difference and mean owning an electric car really pays off.

If you have rooftop solar on your Maui home, you could be producing enough power to charge your car completely.

Can I help you find a home for sale on Maui with rooftop solar in place?

Very interesting Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 . I've considered a hybrid but never a full electric. Solar panels are less effective here and batteries do not love 30 degrees below zero so a hybrid is the way to go in North Dakota.

Bob "RealMan" Timm I'd like to try a hybrid I think, but it may have to wait a few years until they get them dialed in a bit better.  We just got a new truck, so all in good time.  Thanks for your feedback!
