Maui Blog - Georgie Hunter R(S): Maui roadside attraction - coconut water for sale

Maui roadside attraction - coconut water for sale

Would you buy a coconut from this man on the side of the road? He's wielding a big knife and wearing an eye patch, looking a lot like a pirate!

I had to stop just to get some pictures, and I did buy a coconut while I watched him open it with his machete right in front of me.  It was worth it - the coconut water was sweet and refreshing, and I was thirsty.

He was enterprising enough to be there selling his coconuts and I didn't mind helping him out with a few dollars.  I think he was doing pretty good business this day with the sun shining and lots of cars going by.

If you've never tasted a freshly cracked coconut full of coconut water, then you are really missing one of the good things in life.  Put it on your bucket list!

Find a home for sale in Haiku Maui and you can eat coconuts every day.

Looks perfectly normal for Hawaii - not so much for Georgia.  LOL!

I would be OK with buying some coconut water in Hawaii from a pirate myself.

Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 - You were wise to stop and take a chance with the man who looked like a pirate with a big knife. I would have done the same - but only in Hawaii!

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy all of life's sweetness, like coconuts and all!

That guy is an original.  I love that he found a special niche in life that fits in so very well to the Hawaiian lifestyle.
