HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY
Here's a link to what's happening in Hawaii for Memorial Day.
The lower flag is the Hawaii State flag, which was designed with the help of King Kamehameha I, in 1816, with the 8 stripes standing for the 8 main islands in Hawaii. The Union Jack flag of Great Britain is in the upper left corner to honor Hawaii's friendship with the British, who had made this a territory before it became part of the United States.
THANK YOU to all the military men and women who have served this country, and who are now serving. It is a pleasure to be living in this fine country.
Aloha from Maui - thanks for visiting my blog.

Happy memorial day. Hope it was a beautiful day in paradise.
The flags are beautiful, but why are they so tattered? There must be high winds in Hawaii.
Joan - yes it was indeed. Thanks for coming by.
Rosario - yes, we get prevailing tradewinds of 5-15 mph most days.
Hope you had a grand holiday! We sure did on the East Coast!
your friend in Charlottesville!
Georgina, nice ThemThem to our men and women who have served (past & present) and given their lives for our freedom.
Charles - Holiday? Is that what it was? just kidding - yes I had some time off to spend in my garden.
Duane - we owe them so much!
Happy memorial day in deed... I'm so happy to include your state in this great nation... we just wanted be the same without these beautiful islands.
Chuck - That's for sure ... I'm really happy about it too.
