Maui Blog - Georgie Hunter R(S): Speechless Sunday - crispy whole fish at Mama's Fish House

Speechless Sunday - crispy whole fish at Mama's Fish House

This crispy whole fish at Mama's Fish House was a special of the day a few weeks ago, and was it ever delicious! With the side of Asian style veggies and coconut rice, it really was too much food - and that doesn't happen often for me.

Apparently the trout are raised on a farm in upcountry Maui, in Kula.  I had no idea!  Perhaps a visit to the fish farm is in order.

Love the picture and love the meal, I grew up with my mother baking fish in one piece... Now Diane is not too keen about seeing the head and the tails of the fish:)Endre

Oh yummy, that looks marvelous. I'd probably start with the veggies and then work on the fish. Yum.

Don't think I would like to have the head of the fish staring at me so I think I would pass on that but the rest would be great.

Now that's the way to cook a fish. Three weeks ago I had Branzino in San Francisco just that way.

Even though I eat no meat and fish on very rare occasion, I usually stay away from farm raised fish. I wonder if this fish would change my mind??? Yum!

Looks good, Georgie.  We don't usually see fish cooked that way here in Sacramento.  But, it is nearly always the way my family cooks trout.

Oh my gosh, that looks wonderful, Georgie - my absolute favorite food! If you visit the fish farm, you must share your experience. I've never seen one so, I'm curious, of course!

Hope you have a wonderful week!
