Driving to Lahaina for lunch
Just yesterday I found myself on a sudden drive over to Lahaina town, on the west side of Maui. We had to pick up a piece of equipment, for a backhoe, and after business was done, we wound up on Front Streetin Lahaina for a bite of lunch. This colorful historic old whaling town has plenty of shops and restaurants. We ate at Bubba Gump's, right on the seawall with oceanfront dining. Why didn't I take a picture of the pear/berry salad I had? It was yummy.
That's Front Street that has the seawall, and the old buildings along the shore. The huge tree makes shade over the open air market that sells trinkets to the tourists.
I don't usually blog about West Maui, but it is so scenic I just had to share some of these pictures.
Usually you'll find me on the north shore in Paia and Haiku.
Aloha from Maui!

Thanks for the photos. I have never been to Hawaii, but one of these days I will visit.
That looks beautiful. I would like to visit Hi someday.
Hey looks like a fun place to visit. Bubbba Gump's reminds me of Captain Dee's with beer.
Hi , it is fun to be there, I am sure there are a lot of people coming each year.
Now that is some tree! Looks like a great tree for a fort! (if you had it in your yard)
Your Friend in Charlottesville!
Hey everyone - thanks for stopping by and commenting. Lahaina is a fun place to spend a day or night.
I love Maui, it's one of my favorite places to relax. I'm sooo jealous you get to live there!
Georgina- Oh my gosh! I could just like move right in:) I had so much fun in Lahaina. Can't wait to visit again.
Gorgeous pictures!! I have not been there for a while, it brings back great memories. Thanks.
Cindy - it's only a quick plane ride away.
Katerina - Don't wait too long.
Barbara - is it time for another visit?
I REMEMBER WALKING DOWN THIS STREET !!!! And I have picture under one of those HUGE trees in the center of town ~ oooohhhhhhh ~ not fair Georgina, not fair!
Connie - haha - Front St is pretty memorable, no matter how many times you see it.
Georgina, Thanks for sharing these great pictures with us. Looks so beautiful there!
Gary - if you haven't been to Maui yet, you should put it your bucket list.
Georgina - Once again fantastic photos!!! I love that tree!!! I have a thing with trees anyway (perhaps I was one in a previous life) and that tree is really interesting!!!! If only they could tell us their stories!!!
BJ - There is also a very famous tree in Lahaina - the banyan tree on Front Street, right in the center of town. It's a great gathering place, nice and shady and cool. I'll take you there!
Ohhh so nice. It's been about 10 years since I was there, but I remember it fondly. We wend to Maui and Kuai . Absolutely gorgeous there!!!
Hi Trish, I'm glad you have good memories of Maui - and thanks for commenting.
Ahhhh. that brings back great memories. I can hardly wait to get back. I had so much fun visiting the shops and the Art Galleries... and the food was wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
Leslie - and what about the beaches, the sunsets, the margaritas?
Looks like a very peaceful place to visit and vacation. The shops are definetely fun as you can get things there (not found elsewhere) to impress your friends by when you get back to the mainland. Bookmarked this blog. Thanks for showing us a beautiful part of Maui, one which seems untainted and as peaceful as it may once have been several decades ago stilll.
Beautiful!
Castellum - yes Maui is still pretty low key and peaceful, though Lahaina can get pretty rowdy at times.
Mott - nice to see you drop by
Great photos. I've never seen a tree like that!
Just got back from a week there - wish I was still there. Thanks for the pics. We stayed away from Bubba's but did manage a burger at Cheeseburger in Paradise, dinner at the Aloha Mix Plate and a great dinner at the Lahaina Fish Co on the water. Love the Banyan - first saw it 20+ years ago and am so glad it's still growing and shading the art festival. A lovely part of the world you live in. I did 4 or 5 blogs from Kauai and Maui while I was there. What fun.
Stacey - it's pretty isn't it?
Gene - Maui has a way of making you feel really sad when you leave. But the good news is, you'll feel really good when you come back! I'll look for your Maui posts.
Love those photos! Thank you for sharing them with us.
Vincent, you are very welcome.
