Did I tell you about the dragon fruits on Maui? Pics and video

You have to see these dragon fruits on Maui - a new crop

Dragon fruit vines in Haiku Maui

I put together a short little video at at the Peahi Dragon Fruit Farm, a new start up in Haiku Maui.  These fruits are so exotic looking and also very tasty and easy to grow if you know what to do.  My friend let me take the videos and gave me some stems to start my own plants!  I'm really excited to see how they do.

Have you ever tried these fruits?  Just cut them open... it peels really easily, then slice it and WOW - so delicious!  I recommend eating lots of dragon fruit, sliced or in recipes like smoothies.

They definitely look cool, but the one time I tried something labeled dragon fruit, I did not like the taste.  I probably didn't get the real thing though.

Aloha Georgie - just a saunter down the road for you is likely to lead to many discoveries  that many of us need to visit a specialty grocery store or a particularly extraordinary Farmers Market.   Enjoy!  As I am sure you do.

Hi Georgie, I enjoyed watching the video. I don't think we've had Dragon Fruit - it sounds good. I'll make a point to look for it. Thanks. D

Hi Georgie:

Dragon Fruit is so exotic looking but I don't think I have ever eaten it on my trips to Kaua'i and Maui, nor have I seen it actually growing. I enjoyed your video - thanks!

Hi Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089,

Well done video and great pics to explain Dragon fruit.  I am pretty sure that I first had it when I visited Maui and then I looked for it at our stores. So I bring it home every so often as a treat.  My grandson and husband like it also.

I've never purchased dragon fruit, but occasionally I see them in markets here. You've encouraged me to try something new, Georgie.
