I forgot to mention that a landmark store in Paia has now closed.... Nagata Store on the Hana Highway closed for business at the start of this month... July 2008. They have served the public for over 70 years!
You know they will be missed. This was one of the last "old time" stores in Paia.
It kind of marks the end of an era, and the start of a new one. I just hope Starbucks doesn't fill the spot!
This is what it used to look like, when they were open. It was the best place for fresh fish, and many other things.
Anyway, that's the news from Paia. If you're driving through Paia Maui, there are lots of other great shops and restaurants to satisfy your needs.

Georgina, sad, so many closing these days on long time businesses, I feel for them.
Duane - yes it's sad. I like their sign.... gone fishing.... maybe they will have more time to enjoy some other things.
