Maui Blog - Georgina M. Hunter R(S): Hey Oprah - this is Hana Ranch calling - would you like to buy the whole enchilada?

Hey Oprah - this is Hana Ranch calling - would you like to buy the whole enchilada?

Hana ranch comes with a herd of about 1200 animals

Hana Ranch on Maui has landed on the market - for $65M.  That's a whole lot of clams for 4,500 acres in one of the most beautiful spots on earth.

Oprah made a lot of headlines a few years back when she purchased 50 or so acres in Hana town.  I wonder if she wants to buy a little more?

At the end of the "road to Hana", this small seaside village is one of those "last Hawaiian places" that would like to stay that way.  I'm sure there will be a lot of talk about this - and plenty of strong opinions about what should be done with this unique property.

What are the highlights of this spectacular sale?

  • Approximately 3 miles of ocean frontage
  • A cattle operation that includes a herd of approximately 1,200, producing 1,000 calves per year
  • Two private water companies, currently using less than 25% of capacity
  • Gently sloping from sea level to an elevation of 2,200 feet, with a consistent view orientation to the ocean
  • 4,500 acres, comprised of over 90 separate parcels
  • 2BD/2BA Plantation style home, 2750 sf, built in 2004

Hi Jane - this would certainly be something she could afford, and it would make a nice corporate retreat!  haha

Whoever buys it would be "taking the bull by the horns" thats a big ranch, a lot of Paniolos to run it... I am sure. A beautiful part of the world, I am sure someone will grab it at that price.

What an awesome opportunity for someone to purchase as an investment.  Have you tried putting it in Farm and Ranch Magazine.  My contact for the midwest edition is Jim Jones at 866-905-5370.  Good luck!

Elaine - it will be a big change for Hana, and I hope the buyer will be sympathetic to their needs.

Debbie - it's not my listing, just reporting the news.  But thanks for the lead, for future reference.

WOW - I WOULD say as soon as I win the lottery, but I guess I have a better chance of getting hit by lightening when I look at the lottery statistics -

Hey Hunter, I didn't know you had enchiladas on Maui. If you'll take my check I'll take it. But don't try to cash it.

Maybe you should contact Ellen and her gal too.

There is nothing better than a cash deal from celebrity.

Bill - I just made enchiladas last night!

Sabrina - I don't care who the buyer is, I'll work with anyone who's got the cash.

Good Luck Georgie,

I think Oprah is April's client

Hi Steve - April was her agent for the Kula property, but I don't think she was for the Hana property, but what do I know?  If she was, she's looking at one big fine for not reporting the sale since 2002... hahaha.
