Maui once again has the honors of being named the Best Island in the World. Is it any wonder that people from all over the world want to call Maui their home?
I think that the beaches on Maui have a lot to do with it. This is Keawakapu Beach, taken from the lanai of a multi-million dollar home for sale in Wailea. See that little black cinder cone in the background? You'll find the famous Makena Beach (Big Beach) on the far side of it. That one is my favorite! There are plenty of others to choose from, including many beaches along South Kihei Road. On the north shore, Ho'okipa Beach wins, hands down!
Mauiis the 2nd largest island in the Hawaiian Islands, with a population of about 150,000. Although we don't have a large population, we have a lot going on. The natural beauty of Maui is awe inspiring, and many activities here focus on being outdoors. In addition, the arts and culture scene is blooming, and we have a world class venue for performing arts at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
If you read my blog, you'll learn lots of good info about Maui and the Maui lifestyle. Thanks for reading!

Beautiful photo... I want a vacation!
I love it when the trees go right up to the shoreline. Out here all the rich movie stars from the past bought up all the land, and the cities developed everything else.
The coastlines of Oregon, Washington, and Northern California are beautiful because their trees go right up to the shoreline
Maui IS the nicest place I've ever been to. No question about it. It was, and still is, my destination of choice whenever I get a long vacation.
Jason & Amber - and Hawaii wants you!
Russel - beaches in Hawaii are open to the public, up to the vegetation line.
Craig - thanks for the vote of confidence!
Georgina - I was there this past summer - and next time I am visiting I will look you up. I agree with you whole heartedly about the beaches on Maui. We stayed in Wailea last time and I love it there. Took a drive towards the lava fields and came across one beach (not sure of the name) that you entered by walking through an opening in the wall to a beautiful beach. Look forward to more of your posts, and I always enjoy reading and hearing about Maui!
The beach is simply so beautiful. I can never find such beaches in my hometown. So clean and refreshing. Thanks for the share.

Debbie - you and me both. If I had 20 milllion dollars....
Elaine - thanks for visiting my website too!
Georgina - this photo is breathtaking! we are starting our chilly autumn days here. Nothing like bare toes in the warm sand...
Laurie - I hope you can manage a Hawaiian vacation this winter then. thanks for the comment.
Georgina- I don't need the vacation. Even though it was in the late 70's that I lived on Oahu and have been to Maui many times during my life in Hawaii; I am sure that there are still many things that have not changed. The only regrets that I have ever had, was that my mom did not live to see my kids and that I moved off the islands and have not been able to get back. But this is on my list and I just need to set up my life and finances to be able to move there. I want to be running my businesses all on line.
Katerina - well you know what they say.... where there's a will, there's a way. I know it worked for me, once I made up my mind to move here, there was nothing going to stand in my way. If you can run a business online then you are free to be where you please.
