There's something about a blue sky that makes you smile. Maui blue skies!

After spending a few days in the cloudy gloomy weather of Vancouver, it was nice to come back to Maui and see bright blue skies and puffy white clouds, and feel the sun on my skin. It's something we take for granted here in Hawaii, and I can really appreciate it now. Please enjoy these sunny skies if you're needing some sunshine in your day.

Chasing the market down with your home pricing

I remember when this Haiku Maui home first came on the market in April 2008, asking $1,295,000. It was unfinished, as the owner had run out of money and abandoned it. The price was totally unrealistic at the time and what a shame they didn't price it accordingly. It might have sold by now if it was listed for $800,000 back then.

Now it's a bank owned home and the finiishing touches are done, including a paved driveway. This single level 3BD/3BA homes sits on 2 acres with nice ocean views, as you can see from the first picture.

56 Hoomalolo Place, Haiku Maui HI 96708 is currently listed for $748,500. with Hawaiian Island Homes Ltd. MLS#345385. It's starting to look like a good deal!

Where have I been? Have you missed my daily dose of Maui blogging?

Well you might not have missed my blogging, but I sure have. And I missed the Maui sunshine too.

I am now back from a short family vacation and I'll be in the driver's seat again! So stay tuned and fasten your seat belt, it's going to be a great ride.

Vancouver and Victoria are really nice places to visit, but it's COLD and WET at this time of year. My dad was celebrating his 90th birthday though and it was worth the trip to be there and party with him and his friends. Usually we have his birthday party on Maui and it will be good to get back to that routine again next year!

The truth about those 200 sf sheds that don't need a building permit on Maui...

Wow, I am tired of hearing other Maui Realtors spouting off about how you don't need a building permit to build a 200 sf shed on Maui. That is such bad information that they keep repeating in front of my clients, and I have to butt in with these qualifiers:

it's for storage buildings only, on AG zoned land
there can be no plumbing or wiring involved, or you will need permits
you can't live in it! Even if everyone is doing it, you can't legally live in it.

My Haiku Maui HI garden update for January 2012

What are we eating from our Haiku Maui garden this month?

After a very wet couple of months in November and December we are now having to water the garden every day! There's plenty of new starts going in and more beans sprouting up. It's a fair amount of work, and there's always weeding to be done, but we really enjoy the results.

Here are the veggies we can just pick from the garden this month:

cherry tomatoes
bell peppers
swiss chard
eggplant
cauliflower
carrots
green beans
bok choy
celery
onions and leeks
baby mixed salad greens
cilantro, dill, basil, rosemary, parsley
